Jesús Antonio Infante Flores, 34, and Ángel de Jesús Martínez Álvarez, 21, were two of the last six people killed by security forces in April in Lara state.

The procedures were carried out on Monday, April 27 by members of the Special Actions Forces (FAES) in the Ana Soto parish of the Iribarren municipality.

Jesús Antonio Infante Flores was the first victim. At 4:00 am, while he was sleeping with his partner who is 6 months pregnant, he was surprised by FAES officials who violently broke into his home, located in the Villa Bolivariana community, on the Quibor road .

The victim’s mother, who is not identified in safeguarding her physical integrity, reported that the FAES agents beat, tied her hands and took the pregnant woman to Tintorero, Jiménez municipality. During the journey they threatened her and constantly told her that they were going to kill her, while her husband was transferred in another vehicle.

The young woman was left abandoned in a bush. She went out to the road and had to walk back to her house, where she arrived after noon. It wasn’t until 6:00 pm that she learned that her husband had been killed.

The official version released through the regional media indicates that Jesús Antonio had «confronted» FAES officials at kilometer 13 of the Quibor road , specifically in Las Gemelas sector.

Upon hearing the news, Jesús Antonio’s mother paid $ 30 for a ticket from Caracas to Lara. “Not in all the years that I have lived in the neighborhoods of Caracas have I observed an action as criminal as the FAES. What these people do is violate the right to life, «said the woman.

The victim was a native of Caracas and moved to Lara ten years ago. He was on probation and had to appear periodically before a criminal court in Lara for the theft of a cell phone. He was a seller of seasonings and sweets and with this, he supported his 14-year-old daughter and his pregnant wife.

They came out under a hoax

«Open the door, which is an operation» was the warning from a group of FAES officials who arrived at the door of house # 19 on sidewalk 2 of sector 1 of Los Cerrajones, west of Barquisimeto.

It was 6:00 am and Ángel de Jesús Martínez Álvarez, his sister and their parents were at the house. Before opening the door, the young man’s mother warned her son that they were civil servants and he told her to open it, as there was nothing to hide.

The house was surrounded but only six armed men and three women entered. Ángel de Jesús was separated from his family, whom they removed from the dwelling with the excuse that they were going to be questioned. The family was forced into a private vehicle. They were «walked» through the Municipal Cemetery and were later left at the headquarters of the Territorial Intelligence Brigade (BTI) of the FAES, located on 48th Street with Pedro León Torres de Barquisimeto Avenue.

The young man’s parents and sister awaited the alleged questioning. After an hour and a half they let them out. It was 7:30 am. when they left the FAES headquarters. They returned on foot to Los Cerrajones and at 9:00 am their house was still taken over by officials. Neighbors informed them that after hearing some shots, FAES officials took Ángel de Jesús dead.

The parents of the deceased reported that Ángel de Jesús was on probation under a regime of monthly presentation in court. They did not specify the crime that is imputed to him.

The victim worked as a merchant in Bolívar state, but was in Lara because he could not move due to the quarantine. With his death, a 3-year-old baby orphaned of a father remains.
